It becomes easier as you progress through BCR as new weapons become available. And though there are some annoying enemies, most are easy enough to take out. BCR's numerous levels consist of about two-thirds platforming, and one-third killing enemies. Yes, this is an old-school side-scroller with ragdoll. This is especially fun thanks to the ragdoll death animations. You can upgrade the arm and use it to grab enemies and toss them aside. Bullets can be knocked out of the air and barrels can be held up to block attacks. It is your first line of defense against enemy attacks. And you will need to become one with the arm if you hope to conquer Bionic Commando Rearmed - particularly the final level (newly created for this version), which will put your swinging skills to the test. The mechanics are fairly simple, but mastering the nuances of the swing takes considerable amounts of time. With it you can attach to most surfaces and swing. It's that bionic arm that makes our pal Radd stand out from other side-scrolling heroes. His job is to save Super Joe and stop what is essentially the resurrection of Hitler (with name changed to protect the innocent, apparently). You play as Nathan "Radd" Spencer, a sort of super-soldier equipped with a bionic arm. At its core, Bionic Commando Rearmed is the same game from two decades ago.
